MEET DAVE, OUR OWNER
Born in Waverly, Iowa I lived in central Iowa growing up moving to a few different towns before ending up in Indianola and graduating from Indianola High School. During this time I would work a lot of different odd jobs like replacing roofs, bailing hay, and one that sticks out the most is insulating the bottom of a trailer in the middle of summer, talk about hot, sweaty and dirty!
After graduating high school I went straight into the Army as a Cannon Crew Member. During my time at Fort Bragg, I was also in charge of barracks maintenance and ran a couple of projects building wooden boxes to store our gear in the back of the 5 ton trucks and building custom bulletin boards for documents and pictures to hang up in our Battery Head Quarters.
I also met my wife in the Army and followed her back to central Illinois and began working at Caterpillar as an assembler. Just getting out of the Army we lived with her parents for the first year and needed a place to store all of our "Stuff" so my first project there was building a 10X20 storage shed.
After about a year, we finally had saved up enough and bought our first house, this is where my love for home improvement really started. In the 15 years there, I managed to tear each room down to the studs, insulate, new windows, drywall and figure out some custom feature to add to each room. See pictures of the in wall entertainment console in the pictures.
I always loved taking care of the yard and building flower beds. One thing we typically heard when we talked to most people in town was you definitely have one of the nicest yards in the area. I do not like to brag but that always made me feel good.
January of 2019 we packed up and moved to State Center, Ia. That first winter was one to remember! I do not recall another time where I physically could not get out of the driveway for a straight week due to snow. Depending on how you look at it, the house that we purchased here was turn key and I have not really had any project that I could work on inside the house so we managed to find some good outdoor projects that I have completed in the last few months. I built an 8X8 chicken coop with a 16X8 foot run, a really nice wooden swings for the kids, a nice patio behind the house for grilling and managed to redo all of the landscaping around the house.
As I was building the chicken coop this past April, I walked around the corner of the barn and it hit me in the face. This is what I needed to pursue and find a way to make a living helping other people out with their projects that they may not have the time, skills or tools to do themselves. It took me a while to convince myself of this and even longer to convince the wife, but here I am ready to take any project, big or small that you may not have the time, tools or expertise to complete.
